The last couple of months have been like a whirlwind. I did (finally!) settle in Berlin not long after the Spring conference of Opera Europa, and shortly before embarking on a peripatetic journey through some of the meeting places of musical Europe: Aix-en-Provence, Munich, Salzburg, Bregenz...with outings to various other festivals and a few days off on the Catalan coast. So much has been happening that should have been discussed in these columns! But – better late than never (and never too late). Expect reports and notes (some retroactive) on recent and current discoveries as I am now back in Salzburg, via Innsbruck. Off to Jedermann in a few moments.

P.S. I made a rather unexpected cameo appearance, together with colleagues Shirley Apthorp and Adrian Mourby, in the online diaries of the Riga Opera Festival 2010. This now counts as my official Youtube debut.
